Good Grief, Will It Really Be Our 18th GTR?

It’s hard to believe we’re signed up for what will be our 18th Georgia Tandem Rally.  Where has the time gone?!  Screen Shot 2016-02-24 at 8.52.07 PM

Our first GTR in Madison, Georgia back in 1999 seems like it wasn’t all that long ago but as I look at my thinning hairline, consider how our “new” 2008 Calfee tandem is now 8 years old and see pictures nearby of a much younger, now 16-year old grandson and four granddaughters it pretty clear the clock has continued to move despite our efforts to make it stand still.

Anyway, while we weren’t “first on the beach” this year we have finally gotten around to registering for our 18th Georgia Tandem Rally and a return to Statesboro, Georgia.  As always, it’s the friends we get to visit with that make this event so darn special: it’s more or less become a reunion with friends who we only get to see once, twice perhaps three times a year at tandem rallies here in the Southeast US.

Suffices to say, we’re excited and looking forward to the event!  Now, if it would just stop raining on the weekends so we could begin to build up some base miles!  Another symptom of the aging process appears to be seeing friends move into retirement and upping their weekly mileage and riding tempo to heights that we just never see as weekend warriors with a few too many interests, projects and chores competing for our down time!

About TG

I've been around a bit and done a few things, have a couple kids and a few grandkids. I tend to be curmudgeonly, matter-of-fact and not predisposed to self-serving chit-chat. Thankfully, my wife's as nice as can be otherwise we'd have no friends. My interests are somewhat eclectic, but whose aren't?
