Last Call for Florida Tandem Rally By Kathy Foster

Once again we are pleased to share a Florida PANTHERS Event Update from our guest contributor Kathy Foster.

Time is running short to get the special rate for lodging at the 6th Annual Florida Tandem Rally in The Villages, a bike-friendly retirement community 24 miles south of Ocala.

In addition to three days of great riding and fellowship, the rally features a banquet Saturday at the Eisenhower Recreation Center. This center honors our military men and women. Several rooms are filled with museum-quality memorabilia donated by Villages residents from various eras, particularly World War II. There are even contributions from Eisenhower’s personal valet.

Time is running out to register for the 6th Annual Florida Tandem Rally, held in “Florida’s Friendliest Home Town” — The Villages. The Waterfront Inn will be your host for the weekend and a special rate of $109 is available now for those attending the rally. The cut-off date for our special room rate is September 15, 2015.

This year we were awarded the Eisenhower Recreation Center as the host for our banquet on Saturday evening. The banquet will be held in the General Omar Bradley Room and catered by La Hacienda Catering. This beautiful center is dedicated to all branches of our Armed Forces. If you are a history buff or just proud of our military men and women, you will want to arrive early and walk through the museum-quality display of military memorabilia. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted in true military fashion.

Rally Schedule
All routes will start and end at the Waterfront Inn and will pass by convenience stores for rest stops.

Friday’s Rides
The rides on Friday will be 20 miles to 46 miles in length. There will be no official starting time, so you can ride at any time during the day.

Friday’s Social
All who register will be invited to attend an ice cream social at the Waterfront Inn on Friday evening. This cost is included as part of your registration.

Saturday’s Rides
Multiple rides from 34, 42 to 55 miles will be available for Saturday with an end-of-route lunch at RJ Gators Restaurant at Sumter Landing. This lunch is included as part of your registration.

Saturday Evening Banquet
This will be a buffet meal held at Eisenhower Recreation Center, which is located approximately 5.5 miles south of the Waterfront Inn. This buffet is also included as part of your registration.

Sunday’s Rides
Routes for Sunday will be 32 or 42 miles in length.

Extend Your Stay
We have more than twenty tandem teams living and riding in The Villages. You are invited to spend extra days the week before or after FTR2015 to ride with us and enjoy all The Villages has to offer. You are assured to have good roads, routes and PANTHERS to ride with daily.
