I’m not quite sure why, but we’ve not been able to make tandem cycling as high of a priority as I know we need to… relative to health, fitness and the friendships that all revolve around tandem cycling for us. We’d planned to make the trip down to the south side of Atlanta for today’s Tandem Club of Georgia ride (aka, PEACHES), but Debbie’s been fighting a chest cold all week and had a very sore throat this morning when the alarm went off at 6:30am that didn’t improve much at all by 7:30am, so that was that.
Ultimately, I think it’s been a combination of the weather (ugg), health issues, the need to spend time working on the house, family commitments and yes… those darn motorcycles! Hey, variety is the spice of life… and the motorcycles have definitely spiced up our life!!
But, that said… and as tempted as we were to pass on STR over in Cullman, Alabama and head down to Daytona, I’ll be getting our registration for STR sent off this weekend and I think we may do a couple of local charity rides between now and then just to get back into the swing of things. By swing of things, that means getting up early… which has been a big part of our challenge for us of late. With Debbie having to get up at 5:30am all week-long, the desire to sleep-in on weekends has been very strong. So, 8am or even 9am ride starts at locations that are at least an hour drive become non-starters for us.
Anyway, I’ll be getting that registration for STR sent-off this week as we’re looking forward to a weekend with friends and a couple of days of back-to-back tandem riding, perhaps even some triplet time! Need to go and figure out that part of the plan after I get the registration taken care of!!
