2012 Georgia Tandem Rally: Summary

Note: This is the first of five parts. You can find the other updates using these links: Summary – Thursday – FridaySaturday Sunday.

Since I’m a little behind in posting my updates and GTR is now in the history books, I would be remiss if I did not offer a quick summary of the weekend: It Was Awesome!

  • The best restaurants & catered dinner we’ve ever enjoyed at any rally.
  • Met all kinds of wonderful people all weekend long, on and off the bike.
  • Fantastic Friday social with delicious ice cream, a live band and dancing!
  • Great routes with very little traffic.
  • Fabulous weather, albeit a bit windy at times.
  • An amazing dinner venue (The Ice House) and an encore performance by the same caterer who provided the sensational Low Country Boil at the Covington GTR in 2010.
  • Well-behaved mass-starts on all three days that make tandem rallies all that much better since you get to meet a lot of folks on the road who you’d never get to ride with at “start on your own” events.
  • Hosts who had every aspect of hospitality checked and kept everything on track and on-time without making it feel as though the event was all that structured; that’s part of the magic of GTR and it’s co-directors: Roger, Eve & Elliott.  Heck, they even plan things so well that they’re also able to get out and ride every day!
  • Bottom Line: Perhaps the “Best” GTR to date?!

About TG

I've been around a bit and done a few things, have a couple kids and a few grandkids. I tend to be curmudgeonly, matter-of-fact and not predisposed to self-serving chit-chat. Thankfully, my wife's as nice as can be otherwise we'd have no friends. My interests are somewhat eclectic, but whose aren't?

Our first GTR thanks to you, and it won’t be the last. What a blast!

It was so good to see you two and the Bills in Dublin; only wish we could have spent some more time visiting with y’all! We had SUCH a great time enjoying your company and getting to know you two in the Delta Queen’s Texas Lounge back in May 2010.

It goes without saying, we’re very glad to know that you enjoyed yourselves at GTR and that it lived up to it’s billing. About the only thing Roger & Eve can’t control is the weather, and thankfully it cooperated once again.

Gotta tell you, it really was one of the best GTRs yet… noting they’ve all been great and progressively raised the bar on rally expectations.

Keep in touch and we’ll look forward to our next opportunity to visit!!!
