Sebring Tandem Rally Report, by Kathy Foster

Once again we are pleased to share a Florida PANTHERS Post-Event Report from our guest contributor Kathy Foster, the PANTHER’s publicity chair.  The PANTHERS recently hosted the Sebring Tandem Rally on March 23-25 in, well, Sebring, Florida.

Bike spokes were spinning and race car wheels were smoking at the second annual Sebring Tandem Rally the last weekend in March. This year we gathered at the hotel overlooking the Sebring International Raceway in Sebring, FL. We got a chance to gawk at the amateur racers and their high-powered cars while they gasped in amazement at how many miles we tandem riders could crank out with pedal power.

Once again the Florida PANTHERS Tandem Club presented the weekend, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Bob and Jan Thompson. Some 30 tandem couples, including a triple from Tennessee, gathered for the weekend. The weather was nearly perfect and orange blossoms in the groves gave many of our routes a pleasing scent.

More details about the Sebring Tandem Rally 2012 will appear in an upcoming Double Talk, the publication of the Tandem Club of America.  But here’s a tease: save some space on your March calendar for the 2013 Sebring Tandem Rally.

About TG

I've been around a bit and done a few things, have a couple kids and a few grandkids. I tend to be curmudgeonly, matter-of-fact and not predisposed to self-serving chit-chat. Thankfully, my wife's as nice as can be otherwise we'd have no friends. My interests are somewhat eclectic, but whose aren't?
