2011 Florida Tandem Rally… Post Rally News Article

This article about the 2011 Florida Tandem Rally held on 27-30 October at The Villages in middle Florida first hit our Email in my 1 November Google search engine results and I simply didn’t get it posted right away.  I believe I saw where someone may have also posted out a link to the Hobbes list.

Regardless, this is the first of what I suspect may be a couple of write-ups that make it into print regarding this year’s 2nd Annual Florida Tandem Rally — the south’s youngest annual, state tandem rally!

Here’s a short extract of the article, which you can read in its entirety with its accompanying photos at the Daily Commercial by clicking HERE.

Tandem bicyclists ride through Central Florida

Under the glow of Sunday’s morning sun, some 55 couples savored the fresh autumn air on bicycles built for two.

Some came from as far as Idaho and New Hampshire to take part in the Florida PANTHERS Tandem Rally 2011, a weekend event, where the tandem bicyclists began a mass start from the Waterfront Inn at Lake Sumter Landing in The Villages, before splitting off between a short 29-mile ride or a longer one at 41 miles.

The day before, some rode the 62-mile route and were thrilled to spot a couple black bears near the Ocala National Forest.

About TG

I've been around a bit and done a few things, have a couple kids and a few grandkids. I tend to be curmudgeonly, matter-of-fact and not predisposed to self-serving chit-chat. Thankfully, my wife's as nice as can be otherwise we'd have no friends. My interests are somewhat eclectic, but whose aren't?
