Not a whole lot to say about this month’s PEACHES ride, other than it was a good time spent riding with good friends on a good route with good roads with good weather. We began the ride on the other side of Atlanta from where we live, so it was about an hour and 15 minute drive. I believe there were about 9.5 teams on hand, noting Roger Strauss was going it alone as his better half — Eve — was unavailable.
The ride had a little bit of everything: some nice hills, some not-so-nice hills for those who don’t like to climb, some shake-and-bake, a few busy sections of roads, a few less than bike-friendly quick marts in the middle of nowhere that don’t have rest rooms, and at least one BP Station that was more than accommodating.
We had a good 30 – 32 miles, unfortunately the ride was about 43 miles. So, the last 10 miles were a bit of a death march for us as Debbie was just plain gassed and I hadn’t slept the night before and was also feeling puny. Add to that some humidity in 80F temps and, well…. bleah. Just no endurance and no little blue pill to make up for my short comings, so to speak.
